One fluke meeting on an airplane, a subsequent job offer at an artist management company and Susan de Cartier was hooked on the music industry. In the late '80s she moved from New York City to Toronto and began working with Canadian artists that included Blue Rodeo and Crash Vegas. In 1993 she became Blue Rodeo's manager and launched Starfish Entertainment. Under Susan's direct guidance, Blue Rodeo has gone on to become one of the most successful bands in Canadian history, selling over four million albums worldwide to date.

In 2000, Jude Coombe joined the team. Prior to her work with Starfish, Jude worked with The Agency Group and her knowledge of touring, press and promotion has been an invaluable asset to the company.

Danielle Emmrich joined the fold in 2002. Prior to working with Starfish, Danielle ran a studio in Ottawa and her skills were immediately put to good use in the running of our affiliated studio, The Woodshed. In addition to managing The Woodshed, Danielle runs special projects and day to day operations for Starfish.

The Sadies joined the roster in the spring of 2006 alongside existing artists Blue Rodeo, The Jim Cuddy Band, Greg Keelor, Oh Susanna, Erin McKeown (Canada) and The Swallows. With the strong belief that touring is fundamental in developing and sustaining an artist's career, Starfish has built a reputation of developing successful live acts who tour Canada and the world. Throughout our history, Starfish Entertainment has been directly involved in the creation and release of 27 albums.
