BLUE RODEO WIN AN UNPRECEDENTED 5th GROUP OF THE YEAR JUNO AWARD
The band wins a total of 3 awards at the 2008 Junos
This past Sunday night (April 6, 2008), Blue Rodeo were named Group of the Year for an unprecedented 5th time in their career. This is the third decade that the band has been called up to the podium to accept the coveted honor.
In total, Blue Rodeo won three Junos at this year’s awards. In addition to Group of the Year, their 11th studio album Small Miracles was tapped as Adult Alternative Album of The Year. A third award was handed out to director Christopher Mills who was given the Video of the Year award for Blue Rodeo’s single “C’mon.” This brings their Juno tally to 11 awards over the course of their illustrious career.

- Blue Rodeo launches into 2008 with a 2 month national tour starting on Jan. 6. Their first Edmonton show is given 4.5 stars and the Edmonton Sun raves "It was awesome. These guys aren't famous by accident."
- In reviewing the album, Harp says: "They have the chops to warrant the attention and high expectations they’ve sparked since their debut... When Rodeo hits the mark with the likes of “Summer Girls” they’re first class." (Harp – Feb 2008)
- No Depression says: "Blue Rodeo’s trademark sound, a multi-national combination of Beatles, Band, and Byrds with the occasional honky-tonk detour, is in excellent form. ...their music still sounds like it could go on forever." (No Depression – Jan/Feb 2008)
- At radio, Rodeo's song "This Town” charts at #15* at AC & #47* at Hot AC
- Their song “3 Hours Away” debuts on country radio at #36* - In the US the band lands at #21 on R&R's Americana chart and #25* on FMQB's AAA chart.
- The Sadies launch into the New Year with a blistering show at The Horseshoe Tavern. - Exclaim! Magazine declares "New Seasons" the Best Roots Album of 2007: "Our scene is indeed enriched greatly by The Sadies. Their success proves good guys can come first. Long may they ride."
- Now Magazine pronounces it to be the No. 1 Toronto release of 2007.
- Next week sees the band in Europe for a tour with Heavy Trash followed by a headlining tour in Spain.

- Starfish has every Canadian artist on its roster play at The Horseshoe during the 60th Birthday month celebration!
- Blue Rodeo celebrates The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern's 60th with a special night of music on Monday Dec. 17. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped us raise $12,775 for the St. Phillips Food Bank in Parkdale, the single largest amount of money ever raised at the 'Shoe for a charity! Another record broken....
- "Small Miracles" continues to climb the US charts entering FMQB's AAA top 30 chart at #26* and holding onto #21 on R&R's Americana chart.
- Oh Susanna returns from OZ and, in the last of our 60th Anniversary celebrations, will be supporting Rhett Miller at The Horseshoe on Wednesday Dec. 20.

- Rolling Stone says: “The Sadies make great modernist prairie-rock records. But here [on New Seasons] they build fresh, bracing psychedelia from the paisley-tremolo guitars of the ‘65 Charlatans and the fine whine and tight-curl licks of the ‘68-’69 Byrds.
